The Youth Advocacy and Policy Lab invites you to a panel discussion on the state of youth advocacy and the role of lawyers in Massachusetts Care & Protection and Child Requiring Assistance cases that address allegations of child abuse and neglect. The panel will feature First Justice of Middlesex Juvenile Court Gloria Tan, attorneys Rebecca Greening, Clinical Instructor, Harvard Law School Legal Services Center and Jessica Rubin-Wills, Staff Attorney, Children & Family Law Division of Committee for Public Counsel Services, and Jaylynn Conway-Hernandez, Regis College student and young person with lived experience in the youth welfare system.
The panelists will offer their valuable insights on the strengths and limitations of youth advocacy, the role of race and racism in decisions about child safety, the critical importance of competent and empathetic legal representation for both parents and children, and potential solutions to systemic issues in the juvenile advocacy field. Following the discussion, there will be a question and answer period.
