CAP Faculty Director On Education Inequity During COVID

The largest school districts nationwide announcing fall distance learning plans have high concentrations of children in poverty.

CAP Faculty Director Elizabeth Bartholet is quoted in a recent Hechinger Report article by Jackie Mader, Parents Are Panicking, Giving Up Their Careers and Spending Thousands of Dollars On Piecemeal Solutions for the School Year (July 22, 2020). Bartholet warns that states’ underfunded and poorly planned at-home learning models will further widen the already existing education gaps between low income Black and Latino children and their white, privileged peers.
